Schedule is out, go to their website. Just as everyone had thought. NO 410's. Only 410 races are the outlaws. I had hoped this day would never come. Bummer deal

Bummer - but handwriting has been on the wall for a couple years now. Won't stop my trips up there though...

I am glad to hear that from you David, you are right the hand writing has been on the wall for a long time. Steve has been trying for a very many years to save it, not only here but throughout the nation, and it just won't work. We, the racers have priced our selves out of the market place.

Guilty .......... yes probably so, but I can assure you it was great intentions.

Time to reset and start over. Congrats to Steve for that.

He could have just sold the place to a developer and gone on with big bucks. TRUST ME ON THAT

Time to reset and get it back to the wonderful years of old

100% agree with you Dick! People need to realize that we need to embrace what we have while we have it. Am I sad to see the demise of the 410 - absolutely. But, I am excited for the modified class moving forward.

The problem with 410's at Skagit is they are so isolated. No other track in the area runs them. Now if there was a Northwest Tour once a month they ran at Elma, Cottage Grove, Southern Oregon, Coos Bay. And had a nice purse they would work but once a month and all the tracks in Oregon and Washington running only some type of 360's.
ASCS headed cars, open head 360's, Limited( Sportsman, Crate Motor, open straight spark plug steel head's)

I liked when the 410's came down before and after the season at Skagit and ran at Cottage Grove in the 80's.

Another great class to watch out for is the Northwest Focus Midgets, the group is growing again, we've pick up several new cars and drivers this winter already, should be another exciting season.

when the California 410 dudes got screwed during "dirt cup"
they banded together and just decided, Skagit and Beitler are not worth the time. the handwriting has been on the wall for some years now...

It used to be the California drivers would come up here and take all the money from DC back to California. Then as more local drivers had success the California drivers were forced to drive harder with worse results. So now for the same reason very few Washington drivers don't go to cali they quit coming here. my.02

You know that may be your opinion but it doesn't take into consideration all of the factors. Like how often they race, number of available tracks, sponsorship opportunities, logistics for travel and other factors that if you want me to elaborate on I certainly am qualified to, call me.

Otherwise what we have is the best for all parties, racers, fans(good car counts), sponsors (what ever they can afford) and last but no means least the track owners/promoters.

It may not be utopia but it is what we have. And I for one have damn glad of it ...............

I remember a local driver beating the World of Outlaws a while back...word is those guys are pretty good. Another local driver beat all the ASCS National Series drivers last year.

Dick makes a good point. Where I grew up in the Midwest, there are currently twelve dirt tracks operating within 2.5 hours of each other. Twelve! Friday/Saturday/Sunday, with considerable nightly overlap. 360 Sprints and/or Midgets run regularly at four of the tracks - and a touring 410 series hits most of the tracks during the year. The rest of the tracks are generally IMCA sanctioned (mods, sport mods, stock cars) or run late models / crate models.

It shouldn't be a surprise, then, that there are a lot of cars and a lot of talented drivers that race in that area. There is a development system, a ladder if you will, that preps everybody across a diverse set of tracks.

It's a minor miracle that what exists in the Pacific Northwest is as good as it is!

When the California dudes got screwed... praytell history master, when was that? 99% sure that California and outside drivers dominated Dirt Cup for many years. Then you had a local win in '08 and '09 and '14.
