Northwest Focus Midget Series Opens Up 2017 Campaign Friday At Deming

By Ben Deatherage

Deming, Washington- The 2017 season for the Northwest Focus Midget Series is just around the corner and another great year is on tap. Washington’s Deming Speedway will be the host of the first round of action for the new year. A great turnout is expected for opening night.

“We are very excited for the 2017 season to begin,” commented series co-owner Carla Stewart, “with forty-one teams signed up we believe that the fans will enjoy watching all of the action racing by these amazing drivers.”

Although the race will not count towards the Northwest Focus Midget Series championship it will go towards the 2017 Deming Speedway Midget title. Chance Crum was the winner of the track ring last year and hopes to do so this season. Seven more visits will be paid to the most northern destination on the calendar.

There have been thirteen Northwest Focus Midget Series races at Deming Speedway producing seven different winners. Michael Vollbrecht leads the win list with five, all of which were achieved in 2015, with both Nick Evans and Eric Turner having won twice each. Single race victors include Chance Crum, Jacob Brown, Jared Peterson, and Tristin Thomas.

The series had a great play date at Deming on Sunday, April 2nd and had around nine drivers show up to participate. Saturday, April 15th there is a scheduled practice at Skagit Speedway. In other news, the ten races for the series has been named the Summer Challenge powered by Bardahl. More information will be put out in a future press release.

“We now have series t-shirts and hoodies in stock and available in two designs,” continued Carla, “one design has our schedule with logos of all the sponsors and partners while the other has the pictures of the top ten cars in last year’s points. Also, I encourage everyone to like and share our Facebook page of our series so you can see all the great sponsors and partners that we introduce.”
