Skagit Dirt Cup Weekend Next For Northwest Focus Midget Series
By Ben Deatherage
Alger, Washington- After a rare Friday night only show last weekend the Northwest Focus Midget Series is excited to return to Skagit Speedway for two races this week. Thursday, June 22nd, and Friday, the 23rd, will have the series be the support division for the 2017 Dirt Cup. It is without a doubt one of the biggest race weekends in the entire state of Washington.

“We’re very excited with over thirty cars scheduled to race on Thursday and Friday,” commented series co-owner Carla Stewart, “Also we are thrilled to announce that Kevin “KO” Olson has flown in to drive the #92 Midget both nights. He will also be having a meet and greet/book signing on Saturday at Fan Fest.”

2017 has seen an impressive season by defending champion Nick Evans with three victories overall. Tristin Thomas has also scored a fair number of wins, with two, while Ross Rankine and Colton Heath have one trip to the winner’s circle each.

Skagit Speedway has hosted twelve Northwest Focus Midget Series events with five different drivers managing to obtain victories. Tristin Thomas has the most wins, with five, while Garrett Thomas has parked it in the winner’s circle three times. Defending track champion Nick Evans has two triumphs at Skagit while the only single race winners are Kelsey Carpenter and Ross Rankine. Tristin Thomas is also the leader in the Skagit Speedway track championship for the Midgets.
