|INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 20, 2017) – Open wheel racer Chance Crum will use the 2018 racing season to continue honing his skills by competing in a wide variety of racing disciplines. In addition to Crum’s already well established 600 Micro career, the 20-year-old Washington native will continue with more winged 360 sprint cars and focus midget racing, and will add national dirt midgets and an asphalt super late model race to the line-up.
“I’m thankful to have so many great opportunities ahead” said Crum. “The 2018 season will position me to compete at a wide variety of tracks, with the some of the best racers in the country.” Crum further explained, “Not only do I always want to have fun, but my goal is to learn to win at each level of racing, while representing my sponsors and team owners at the highest level.”
Crum will kick off the season in March aboard the Rutz Racing Triple X Winged 360 Sprint Car at the well-known Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, for Silver Cup. The team plans to race the full Summer Thunder Sprint Series schedule together, as well as other events, such as Castrol Raceway’s Gold Cup in Canada.
“I’m thrilled to have Chance back for a second year,” commented team owner Doug Rutz. “He and his family are a great fit for our race team. I look forward to watching him progress, and I have no doubt we will see several wins this year.”
Another door that has opened for Crum is the opportunity to pilot a Super Late Model for the Holm Family at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington. Crum’s grandfather was recently inducted into the Evergreen Speedway Hall of Fame earlier this year. While filling in for longtime friend Tanner Holm, it will be Crum’s first time behind the wheel of a stock car, and first time back on asphalt since Quarter Midgets.
“Racing at Evergreen where my grandpa and dad both used to race will mean the world to me, and I’m very thankful for the opportunity” shared Crum.
In the Northwest Focus Midget Series, this season, Crum will race part time in a Stewart Family owned Triple X Midget.
“The promoters, Carla and Gaylon Stewart, care deeply about the sport, the racers, and the fans. This series is known for producing clean, competitive, and exciting racing for everybody involved, and I’m looking forward to racing with them again this year” explains Crum.
In addition to these opportunities, Crum will fill the remainder of his schedule competing in his family owned Farrell Frameworks 600 Micro Sprint. This will include a shot at a $10,000 payday at the Clay Cup Nationals at Deming Speedway in July; as well as a few races in California with the King of California series.
Crum will also get a shot to race in the USAC National Midget series aboard the Hergott Racing Development / RayPro Midget in June, during the ultra-competitive Indiana Midget week.
“Indiana Midget week brings drivers from all across the country to compete for 6 days straight at 6 different tracks across Indiana” explains HRD co-owner Joy Hafner.
Last year, drivers from Australia, New Zealand and many states across the US made the trip to Indiana for the famed event.
“I’m very excited to work with HRD and Team RayPro,” said Crum. “Racing in Indiana at several of the well-known tracks, against the best midget racers in the country will be a great learning opportunity for me. I hope to gain some great experience.”
“I am very thankful for all of the marketing partners, and team owners that have believed in me,” explained Crum. “I look forward to using 2018 to work hard on improving my driving and marketing skills in hopes that I can compete at racings highest levels.”
Chance would like to thank the following sponsors; Air Van Moving, Joes Racing Products, Farrell Frameworks, Seros Race Engines, CSI Shocks, Keizer Wheels, Air Van Moving, Richmond Engines, Triple X Race Co., and TrophyDash.com.
