I heard Jerry took a nasty tumble and maybe totaled his new old RAM. Any info on Jerry? Hoping all is well.

Good to hear. Those cars are tough. I have one just like it. Mine never had wing mounts until it came up here in1980. It ran non wing So. cal. CRA. It's claim to fame is winning the Ascot Salute to the 500 and going through the bill board at the end of the front straight away with Johnny Redican driving. He had to mend for quite some time after that but the car is still running today.

As of Monday night, I heard he was still in the hospital over in Coeurd'Alene. Sounds kinda serious. My thoughts and prayers are with him. He is one of the true legends of racing in the Northwest.

Last night I asked around and found out that you are correct..he may be awhile longer..guess it was more than 3 days too..they kept him in an induced coma..punctured lung and broken ribs..YUCK.

Sounds like he will recover, but a long, slow process...

Received this info this morning on Jerry. It came from Frank & Anita Volz. --------

Jerry is in the in-house rehab at Kootenai Medical center in Coeur D'Alene.

At this time, Jerry is unavailable to receive calls.  Also they are making that old racer work hard, so he tires real easily. He asked that people don't visit at this time.

He has to wear the neck brace 24/7.  He has to wear the back/body brace whenever he is out of bed, in addition to a halo.

Jerry understands the long road he has to travel to recovery but his spirits are great.  He figures it's a 6 month recovery.  Don't know if that is a medical opinion or just what Jerry figures.  Time will tell.

Jerry appreciates all of the well wishes and prayers on his behalf.

If anyone would like to send a card, the address is:  Jerry Day, Rm 165, Kootenai Medical Center, 2003 N Kootenai Health Way, Coeur D'Alene ID 83814.

The latest and greatest news about Jerry "RAM" Day is that he will be escaping soon.  Hal Schlegel will be his accomplice and get away driver.  Excape is planned for 11:30 AM on Sunday, June 13th.  If you see a motorhome towing a black car hauler after that time, don't stop them as RAM is headed home!
