The prize money continues to increase for The Second Annual Fred Rannard, Sr. Midget Classic at Agassiz Speedway this coming Saturday, September 9. First it was the Lester brothers at recycleyourauto.com that donated $1,000 to make the race $1,000 to win and then last week donations from Agassiz Speedway superfans Gary ($600) and Terry ($200) mean that all drivers who start the feature are now guaranteed a minimum of $200 (up from $100). This is all in addition to the other companies and individuals that have provided cash, contingency awards and prizes for the fans. The current payoff is now $1,000-500-400-300-250 for the top five finishers and $200 each for sixth place and beyond.
In addition, there will be a $100 fast time award sponsored by Tron Fabrication while contingency awards for hard charger, hard luck, best appearing car, longest tow, fan favorite and sportsman of the race will again be provided by our friends at Speedmart, Joe's Racing Products and Harding Motorsports Supply.
"The support from all of our great friends in the racing community has been amazing," says Fred Rannard, Jr. "We're going to have a lot of fun this Saturday and I know Dad will be watching with a smile on his face."
The race date of September 9 is exactly two years ago to the day that Fred Rannard, Sr. passed away at the age of 92. He spent over 20 years handling public relations and promotions for Langley Speedway and Skagit Speedway.
Like last year, this year's event is a points race for both the Washington Midget Racing Association and the Agassiz Speedway midgets. Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Hornets will again be a part of fan appreciation night. New this year is the addition of the West Coast Vintage Racers which feature sprint cars and super modifieds from the 1960's,1970's and 1980's.
Spectator gates open on September 9 at 4:30 with qualifying at 5:30 and racing at 7:00.
Thanks again to the following for their support of the Second Annual Fred Rannard, Sr. Midget Classic: The Lester brothers at recycleyourauto.com, Agassiz Speedway superfans Gary and Terry, Paul Tourond at Tron Fabrication, Speedmart, Joe's Racing Products, Harding Motorsports Supply, Leslie McKellar (Agassiz Speedway photographer), Dave Key at Key Welding, Shaun Hulbert (Shaun in the Dirt Racing Podcast), Leighty Racing in Pacific Beach Washington, Greg Burgess from Longdale Speedway in Oklahoma, Deming Speedway, Brian's Auto Glass, Rutz Racing, Triple X Racing, Hemrich Brothers Garage, the Tourond Family, Lordco Auto Parts, Sean Edwards Racing, Northwest Focus Midget Series, West Coast Vintage Racers, Washington Midget Racing Association, Vancouver Giants hockey, Vancouver Stealth lacrosse, Dolly's Tees, Goodwin's Greenhouse Supply and Serious Performance.
