|After scoring a runner up finish during his season debut last week Los Angeles, California's Tyler Walker will look to move up one spot further on Saturday aboard the Richie Rich Motorsports 88. It will be the 2009 King of the West Series champion's first ever start at the Stockton Dirt Track, which opened in 2013.
Last week Walker was forced to the rear of the field after an early spin and thrilled the crowd by charging back for the second place finish, nearly picking up the win. The event last Saturday was Walker's first King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series start since winning the season-finale at Placerville in his championship year.
During Walker's title march in 2009 he set the single-season win record with the King of the West Series, racing to nine triumphs that year. Competing with the Richie Rich Motorsports team is a reunion for he and crew chief Lee Lingren, who wrenched Walker to his championship that season. Together the pair won 14 KWS races over a two-year period.
Campbell’s Bud Kaeding maintains a slim three-point advantage over Lemoore’s Carson Macedo at the top of the King of the West Series standings. Kaeding, a three-time USAC National Silver Crown champ, has already claimed two wins this year and is coming off a seventh place finish last week in Chico.
Macedo is still in search of his first career King of the West win after scoring a fifth place finish last week. The 19-year-old is the KWS track record holder at the Stockton Dirt Track and looks to crack off a victory on Saturday. Macedo last season shocked the Sprint Car world when he claimed opening night of the Gold Cup Race of Champions with the World of Outlaws in Chico.
Tickets for the event this Saturday in Stockton are on sale and can be acquired by contacting 916-370-9417. All seating is general admission during the night, but fans can save $5 off each adult ticket by pre-purchasing them prior to the event. There is a $3 convenience fee per order, not per ticket as in the past.
Adult pre-sale tickets cost $20 with pre-sale ending on Friday June 12th at 5pm. Day of event- $25 Adult Seating (13+), $5 Kids (6-12), 5 & under FREE, $50 Family Pack including 2 (13+) & 2 (6-12). The front gate opens at 5pm, while Will Call opens at 4pm. Qualifying will be around 6pm, with the first heat race set to go off around 7pm.
Since originally starting out as the Golden State 410 Series in 1986, this season marks the 30th anniversary for what is now known as the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series. The tour will return to the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday August 1 and then Saturday November 7 for the Tribute to Gary Patterson, which caps the season for both the track and the series.
Saturday is also the 3rd Williams Roofing Royal Fan Pill Draw night. A trivia question will be asked from the announce booth and the fan that answers correctly will pull a random number (1-22) out of a bag. The fan automatically wins $100 and if the driver wins the feature from the starting spot drawn, the driver receives a $1000 bonus. The Williams Roofing Draw is taking place at KWS events that are part of the Prentice Motorsports Group Double Down Bonus weekends, which includes this week at Stockton.
