|Ryan’s 4th Win Highlights Fun Friday at Deming Speedway
Liam Ryan pulled ahead in his season long rivalry with Chase Schmidt, taking the season lead in the 600 Open division with a 25 lap wire to wire win at Deming Speedway on Friday night. Other feature winners on NW Propane / Fred Meyer night were Eric Drake, Tanner Holm and Lynden Lebedinski.
Tied at three wins a piece coming into the night, Liam Ryan secured his fourth win of the season in the 600 Open class over Chase Schmidt. The two Langley, BC natives started on the front row of the feature, with Ryan jumping out to an early advantage and Schmidt giving chase. While things got hairy in traffic a few times, it was Ryan holding point for the entire duration, followed to the line by Schmidt and Kyle Mitchell. For Liam, it completed a clean sweep of the events, as he set quick time and won his heat race. Austin Sheridan and Shaun Holtorf won the other heats.
Eric Drake became a three time winner in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 division. Drake nailed his setup, cruising from the front row to an early advantage that would take him to the win without serious challenge during the course of the feature. Tyson Cross and Clennon Holloway staged a long battle for second, with Cross taking the spot on the final lap following some contact. Cross was fast time. Nate Vaughn and Steven Hendrickson won the heat race.
Tanner Holm became the first multiple time winner of the season in the 600 Restricted division. Holm inherited the lead on lap two after initial leader Sawyer Sorgenfrei spun, and through liberal use of the brake on a very slick Deming Speedway, cruised to a victory with Spencer Constance and Tristin Thomas finishing second and third. Jesse Schlotfeldt set quick time. Heat wins went to Holm, Ian Humphries and Kaitlyn Hammer.
Lynden Lebedinski came from 8th place to take his second win of the season in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprints. Lebedinski benefited from a late yellow flag while running fourth, as second place Gary Isaacson Jr and third place Cain Cress got together, ending the race night for both drivers. With three laps left, Lebedinski took full advantage of the restart, passing Tyler Mcleod to take the lead and the victory. Haley Constance got by for a career best second place, while Mcleod brought home his best finish in a Junior Sprint by running third. For Lebedinski, it gave him a sweep of the evening after setting fast time and winning his heat. Mcleod was the other heat winner.
