I got a call the other day from a relative that Don Perry also known as the dancing flagman at evergreen speedway in the 70's has passed away. I can remember him being struck by a stock car taking the checkered flag in the early 70's and still coming back to be a flagman after the incident. RIP Don Perry.

First class guy all the way! One of the best. Feel fortunate to have been able to work with him a couple times.

I don't believe that Don ever actually flagged at Sky Valley....but he and the Evergreen announcer at the time, Howard McFaddden, came up a few different nights with Howard dressed as a trophy girl and entertained the crowd before heading to a few of the local watering holes and entertaining some more. I remembered this happening and Howard shared the stories during Don's services. Don was pretty busy during racing season and very seldom was he even able to take in open wheel events, unless they were scheduled where he was already flagging. Both him & Ginny are gone now.....along with several other Evergreen Speedway alumni officials.
