K&N Pro Series West makes its 52nd trip to Evergreen Speedway!

Monroe, WA- August 13th marks the return to the facility that has hosted the K&N Pro Series West the most in the history of the series with the running of the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150.

To look at the statistics provided on the NASCAR Media website makes for fascinating reading if one is into the history of short track racing on the West Coast. 32 different drivers have taken the checkered flag at the “Super Speedway of the West”. Ray Elder leads the group with 5 wins, with Ron Eaton and Chad Little getting 3 wins each. 9 different drivers have 2 wins a piece, with 20 drivers obtaining 1 win each.

Ford has 14 victories over the years, with Chevrolet next at 12, Dodge has 9, Pontiac 5, Buick 3, Oldsmobile and Plymouth tied at 2 each, Toyota has 1, and believe it or not, Mercury has 1 as well!

This seasons version of the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150 will bring a diverse group of drivers to the aging yet challenging .646 miles (5/8’s) oval. With the series racing at the Iowa Speedway prior to the haul up to the Pacific Northwest, Todd Gilliland leads the series with 3 wins, yet Ryan Partridge leads Gilliland by a slim margin in the season points battle. Gilliland also leads the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Standings. Another impressive name in the top 10 is Julia Landauer.

Although new to the K&N Pro Series West for 2016, Landauer brings an impressive resume to the series. Her career highlights include winning the Limited Late Model Division title at the Motor Mile Speedway in 2015, and became the first woman to win a NASCAR track championship in the Limited Late Model Division at Motor Mile. The New York, New York native drives for the legendary car owner Mike Curb with Toyota Racing Sponsorship.

Also participating in this year’s race will be local standout driver Garrett Archer in the Jefferson-Pitts Racing Ford out of Naches Washington. Archer is very familiar with the large Evergreen Speedway oval, and will have veteran racer Jason Jefferson on the box guiding the effort.

The supporting race for the event will be the running of the Galloway 150 Shootout. This race was rained out earlier in the season, and should bring an impressive field of Super Late Models back to run on the 5/8’s. The race honors the memory of Mark Galloway, who was a favorite of many racers over the years, and the list of racers who have won this prestigious race is impressive. Former winners Naima Lang, Shane Harding and Tyler Tanner are entered, and those 3 would love another Galloway win to add to their resumes.
