After a wonderful phone conversation with Debbie Brownfield-Beitler yesterday, it is my great pleasure to announce that the late Fred Brownfield was overwhelmingly voted to be inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa. Fred will be enshrined as a promoter on June 5th and the plaque going on the wall will be there for as long as the Hall of Fame exists.

Debbie was informed of the news by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum staff last week. Needless to say, the entire family is thrilled, but at the same time very touched by this honor bestowed upon Fred by the sprint car racing community around the country.

I figure we'll see the official press release by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Musuem in the near future. This has been a very good last couple of weeks for sprint car racing in the Pacific Northwest!

12 Inductees Announced as NSCHoF "Class of 2010"

1/15/2010 -
The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the names of its twelve inductees for 2010.  The individuals will be inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 5th, during the twenty-first annual ceremonies in Knoxville, Iowa.  The inductees for 2010 are:

Drivers:  Bobbie Adamson, Hank Arnold, Fred Linder, Frank Riddle, Hal Robson, Herman Schurch.

Owners-Mechanics-Builders-Manufacturers-Car Sponsors:  Clyde Adams, Casey Luna, Don Shepherd.

Promoters-Officials-Media Members-Event/Series Sponsors:  George Bentel, Fred Brownfield, Ben Krasner.

According to National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation executive director Bob Baker, “It seems like every year a different ‘theme’ emerges for our induction ceremony and based on this year’s final balloting by the 72-member induction committee, I would say that this year the emphasis is on ‘National’.  The ‘class of 2010’ is truly coast-to-coast and border-to-border in its scope.  From the late Herman Schurch in southern California to Bobbie Adamson in Central Pennsylvania, and from the late Fred Brownfield in the Pacific Northwest to the late Frank Riddle in Florida, our inductees in 2010 come from every region of the country.”

Baker, in making the announcement during the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, continued, “It is unfortunate that so many of our inductions will be posthumous this year, but I guess that just makes us appreciate those that are still with us that much more.  We hope and trust that great achievers such as sprint car drivers Bobbie Adamson and Fred Linder, mechanic Don Shepherd and owner Casey Luna will be able to join us for our twenty-first induction ceremony on Saturday, June 5, in Knoxville.  With the World of Outlaws and Knoxville Raceway having announced a three-day sprint car show here on June 3-4-5, I certainly expect that this will be one of our biggest banquets ever!”
