Here's some questions for the "old, old" Skagit "old timers":

End of season trophies (according to the Belligham Herald) for the 1961 season:

High points for "A" class cars?
High points for "B" class cars?
Best mechanic?
Best looking car?
Hard luck?
Sportmanship?

I've only found one of the answers in the Skagit programs I've accumulated from the 1980s and 90s.

Geez, no attempt at even the "A" class winner. Okay, here's the winners:

High points for "A" class cars?

Al Fountain

High points for "B" class cars?

Jim Larson

Best mechanic?

Ted Hayes

Best looking car?

Bud Morgan

Hard luck?

Al Tesch

Sportmanship?

Jerry Birdsey

All of it from the Friday, September 15, 1961 Bellingham Herald. If I'm wrong blame them.

Thanks to all for the kind words and pictures of my Vintage Sprint Car, It is a BLAST! to drive. As far as the rodster goes I am gathering parts and do intend to build one. I have some old photos taken during construction and still have the original body molds.  I have some photos of the car taken in 1969 that I would like to share. How do I post them    Jerry Day

The pic of robertsons car from 67 is kinda cool...I remember that old beast...red and white#66. Car was sitting in a construction yard in spokane around 1989-1990...lost track of it after that. I was from lewiston many years ago and followed george around alot..I have some photo's of the eckman car at the car show the first year george ran it...also some pics of his horrendous crash into the dirt bank at lewiston...he was lucky to have survived that one.....

WOW !!!  Nice to see a picture of my old Roadster. That was taken at Evergreen Speedway at the 1st Race of 1969.   Great sport running that big 5/8 track. This was the last year for the open cockpit cars and we had a good season and won the WRA Sprint Car Championship and finished 10th in CAMRA. I had a plug in roll cage to run with CAMRA.. To Bad THIS is the Car that went to the CRUSHER.. It was the first car I ever built and took 4 years to build it. Will give More details if your intrested               Jerry Day

That looks like Brian Thomas up high, Don Billings going for the pass, and I don't know who the red car is pulling up the rear.

JERRY,

I GREW UP WATCHING YOU RACE. MY QUESTION IS WHEN DID YOU START RACING, HOW MANY OF THE 'RAM' RACE CARS DID YOU PRODUCE AND WHEN WAS YOUR LAST FULL COMPETETIVE SEASON IN A SPRINT CAR AND WHO WAS YOUR TOUGHEST COMPETITOR ON THE DIRT AND ASPHALT?

KELLY NICHOLAS
STANWOOD, WA

PS-I SEEM THE REMEMBER THE PHRASE 'RAM IT'
