So you are saying Sunset has definately committed to a crate engine sprint class? Seems like a good starting point to implement an econo engine deal. I would sure try to get  them to re-think and push for WESCO type rules and ax the crate deal. If they have already committed to a chevy crate engine sprint class and wont consider anything else then all this talk is kind of a moot point. The NWWT and ODSS cant seem to get together either so it looks like all that has happened is a lot of pumping wind!!

You can move to wherever you want from what you say Sunset is set the NWWT is set so discussing econo engines is kind of done sounds like. Since this whole deal got sidetracked into that I can get back to the original question then. Would like to see some info on how they are installing these crate engines in sprints especially at the flywheel end of things.

Fine, I'll let Jerry know of your request, and as far as the Econo/Sportsman/Limited debate goes, I hope it's not over, because I think, their are a lot of cars out there that do or can meet that criteria, give or take, here or there, but, they are out there, just not running (at least on dirt) for one reason or another, we need to find out why and see if we can resolve some of the issues, with everyones help that has been involved in this thread !!!

Ok here's my cheaper Motor. Don't run the Skagit Sportsman or the Cottage Grove Limited heads

Run ASCS heads, Flat top pistons, sold lift cam, 3.48 throw crank, 11.5 to 1 compression rule and zero deck height, 5.7 inch connecting rod length.

That way if you want to run an ASCS race you have the heads already.
Or Skagit 2012, Cottage Grove 360, Southern Oregon Speedway, Grays Harbor. all run the ASCS heads but the ISCS series.

Ron, since when did you become the NWWT spokesman?? Did you call around to all the teams and drivers and talk to them about Ottos idea?? Or are you simply speaking out of place! I only ask because if I were a NWWT member I would not want someone to be speaking for me. If you have an opinion about something (which obviously you do) state it as yours and yours alone not the collective opinion of the NWWT. Thanks in advance Ron

Gee Wheeze Pat, I was only trying to tell Otto, I thought he had a good idea (so BRING IT), but then thats not really what your rebuttal is about anyway is it . And since your not a member and/or do not have a registered Sprint Car with the NWWT, I don't think I would concern myself to much, and I think by now, we are all aware of your mission, when it comes to the NWWT, just MY humble and simple observation over  the past few racing seasons !!! And as many times before, if you would like to speak to me about anything, here is my phone # again (503) 281-1579 thank you .

Lets make one thing crystal clear here Ron, I have absolutely no problem with the NWWT or any other organization.  In your statement "The NWWT says bring it" i dont see anywhere where you tell Otto he had a good idea, all I see is a guy who put himself on a pedestal  and is speaking out of his place.  This is just my opinion of coarse I dont speak for anyone else.

Pat, one of the Greatest Statesmen of our time Sir Winston Churchhill once said : "To be hated is a good thing ! That just means you are willing to stand up for something you believe in, when others can not or will not" !!!

I think, we perhaps have a common goal, it's just that our approach is different and we have been on opposing teams throughout the inception and growth of the NWWT, if you are not comfortable with the roll that I have played in the past or at present, then I apologize to a point, it's the old type A competitive spirit I guess, however, once again "The Winds of Change are in Air" and I know that there are those out their that can explain that !

We are getting way off base here, maybe we should get back to the subject and leave the politics for another day, OK !

Mr. Brown, did you just compare yourself to Winston Churchill??  Excuse me while I put my rubber boots on cause its getting deep in here.  Again you are not seeing my point, I have NO PROBLEM with NWWT I repeat NO PROBLEM!  Do you understand?  My "problem" is with you getting on here and speaking as if you are a the "Grand Poobah" of the club!  So please dont drag this thing out with some witty comeback and please dont quote famous figures in history and reference your self with them.  Just state your opinion and yours alone, leave out all of the we's and us's.  Again thanks in advance.

Pat, it's very simple, if it bothers you and your friend so much, just don't read it, when ever you see the avitar just skip over the text, because in most cases I'm not addressing you or your buddy anyway !!!  If you two have anything further, PLEASE give me a call or come by the shop, your always welcome .

Well now. Speaking as a guy who has no dog in this fight, I would like to make a comment.

The racing world is full of "legends" who haven't strapped on a race car in several years if they ever have at all. If you limited this discussion to drivers who have competed with no fenders in the last season or two, I am reasonably sure that it would all end with a pickup bed full of Coors Light and a butt load of back slapping. I have a ton of opinions on all of this stuff, but no investment so I've been remarkably quiet. If all you want out of this deal is a byline, to sell parts, or to build your own damn legacy, shut the hell up and let the racers work out their own future.

Okay, Rick. I'm done

it's always good  to see non owners /drivers  with  ideas how to make racing great .....yet those that own /drive.. ..pay the bills ..so as I see it ..if you have no dog in the fight ..the fighters aren't  really concerned with your thoughts ...  when figuring how to make racing cheaper so as they can particapate in the future of racing in openwheel cars /sprints .. yet someone has to supply the engines..to those who can't build one .. this is about keeping cost's down .maybe crates are not the way to go.. a standard wesco type engine is  cheap to build ..and this is the time of year to again bring engine formula plans to your local clubs... if ever we all get on the same plan.. .maybe once again the legends who have been priced out of racing will show up at your track ..continue to build their legacy..show the youger guys how it's done... . then stand around the pits afterwards...  telling stories  slaping backs .and drinking the straight shots of whiskey .. cause we didn' have  coors light when we started in this sport ...you may be wrong about one thing .. if no one talks about  finding cheaper openwheel  racing .it wont ever happen .. and some young kid  you dont now know.. will never get the chance to be the next  legend ... build his own legacy ..then move on to the big time ....like others from our great northwest....have done

Should keep my mouth shut here, but this is what at one time this season was on the Sunset web site.

The econo-sprint class that was to start by July 2011 (obviously didn't meet that deadline) did not mention being a crate motor series. Believe they were looking at steel block/steel head configuration, and running a four-barrel carb.No fuel injection. Nothing mentioned about having a starter.

Only saying what was on the Sunset type. Said if any questions call Jerry.....I will leave that alone!:)
