This winter seems to have been a lot more quiet with news regarding Skagit, Elma, STSS.. Even Oregon to me has seemed strangely quiet... As I have been seeing ASCS National/Regional and countless other tracks around the country posting schedules, highlighted events, announcing bigger purses and series point funds I have seen absolutely nothing from Washington and Oregon kind of sad if you ask me...

I know there was a meeting 2 weeks ago and have yet to hear a word about what was said? Anyone know about 2016 Weekly payout??
Now that their is no 410s is anything planned to help grow the 360 class or will it be the same as the 410s in a few years because operating costs have gotten very similar the past few seasons??
Summer thunder now 2 nights in Yakima does it have raised purse is there still a pit party like last year?
Summer Thunder Season point fund???

Or am I the only one that thinks this off season has been very quiet???

As a fan Cam, having watched you race many many times, I can second it being very quiet for Washington and Oregon racing news. Most if not nearly all of my fan racing news is coming from the east coast and Mid-west. Of course, I have had to resort to early season Dirt Late Models and Dirt Modifieds for my early season fan fix. So yes, as a fan there just seems to be a big blank at the moment for Wa and Ore.

Well, Ascs n/w is dead and probably never will be revived as long as there is a big divide between Wa and Ore promoters. It has got to a point now where there is one dirt track promoter for sprint cars in Washington and one for Oregon. Until they can figure out a way to get on the same page I don't see things changing anytime soon. They both have their own turf now and neither seems to want to budge. Make a decision which way to go and live with it. Good or bad it just seems that is the way it is. On the other hand asphalt latemodel racing seems to be making a comeback

Well here is what I see. The promotor of Skagit and Elma has hot wanted tobe the Promotor/schedule ASCS NW regin races. Instead went to the STSS as the tour for Washington only. Skagit, Elma, Yakima.

Oregon had only one track that run a lot of Sprints and that is Cottage Grove. Medford SOS has another new promotor this year. Their schedule shows alot of sprint car races.
I added their schedule to this site.

The WST or Western Sprint Tour is running Speedweek only.

7/3/2016
Sunset Speedway Park - Banks, OR
WESTERN SPRINT TOUR SPEEDWEEK NIGHT 1
360 Sprints - Winged: Western Sprint Tour

7/4/2016
Cottage Grove Speedway - Cottage Grove, OR
WESTERN SPRINT TOUR SPEEDWEEK NIGHT 2
360 Sprints - Winged: Western Sprint Tour

7/5/2016
Willamette Speedway - Lebanon, OR
WESTERN SPRINT TOUR SPEEDWEEK NIGHT 3
360 Sprints - Winged: Western Sprint Tour

7/6/2016
Coos Bay Speedway - Coos Bay, OR
WESTERN SPRINT TOUR SPEEDWEEK NIGHT 4
360 Sprints - Winged: Western Sprint Tour

7/7/2016
TBA - Tba, OR
NIGHT OFF - TRAVEL/REST DAY
360 Sprints - Winged: Western Sprint Tour

7/8/2016
Siskiyou Motor Speedway - Yreka, CA
WESTERN SPRINT TOUR SPEEDWEEK NIGHT 5
360 Sprints - Winged: Western Sprint Tour

7/9/2016
Southern Oregon Speedway - Medford, OR
WESTERN SPRINT TOUR SPEEDWEEK NIGHT 6
360 Sprints - Winged: Western Sprint Tour

The track Schedules for Oregon has been out for over a month.

Guys Rick is mostly correct...the problem is the Promoter in Oregon is a late model and modified guy he has never cared much about Sprint cars and its really hard to watch...I have been going to races at Cottage Grove for over 20 years and seen some of the best sprint car races anywhere over that time...for the first time ever Cottage Grove is only going to have 5 360 Sprint car races the lowest ever....so its not a good sign...the new promoter at Medford is Mike McCann and he used to own Cottage Grove in the late 80's and in early 1990 before he got out of it...he'll try and bring back 360's in Medford so I wish him the best....but at least we have the STSS and Dirt Cup and the Fred Brownfield...its real easy to be angry and frustrated as a fan...but I love watching Cam and the rest of the guys and will just enjoy what i can....down here we do have great two-day show over memorial weekend the Marvin Smith Memorial race and that always gets a good car count....its just not the same and wont be until things change down here in Oregon....so to Cam Smith and the rest of drivers as a fan I hope to see you all at the races....

The sad part is the promoter of the washington tracks doesn't think like a racer/promoter like Fred did, he only thinks as a promoter now, me and only me. I used to go to most the big races and to a good # of weekly shows, I didn't attend one race last year, cause when I had the time to go on a regular weekend to elma there were no sprint cars, so wasn't worth going, and the big shows are getting to costly by the time you figure in fuel, camping, food and everything else. Racing is becoming a dying breed with the cost of everything now days, only the rich will survive. So now if you want to race or watch a 410 sprint car you have to travel to California, that sucks!

You are under the mistaken impression that you deserve to know what is happening..
When you attain that status then and only then will you be privy to the inner circle details......lol;);)

Anyone know the payout for the Yakima race? I'm assuming the regular 2k to win each night but the rest of the pay scale would be nice.

I have also given up on the NW sprint car scene.. Didn`t attend any races last year and don`t plan on seeing any this year. Instead, I`ve been taking care of bucket list races. Daytona 500,Trophy Cup, Vermeil Classic, making plans for Knoxville, and Cocopah. Still hoping people get their **** together in the NW someday!

it's about one thing and one thing only, MONEY...and now steve is losing lots of it with the fan base dwindling. so steve said he could handle both tracks at the same time during the fair board meeting at elma. Skagit would have been better off without him taking on elma. falling farther down hill without any ASCS...
