One of the biggest nights of racing at Evergreen Speedway is coming up this Saturday as all three of the Figure 8 Divisions will be showcased during the annual 90 Minutes of Fear. The always dangerous and exciting Figure 8 racing features cars racing around the 1/5th mile track and crossing through the dangerous intersection at high speeds. Most races throughout the year will feature the different divisions racing 20-30 lap main events; but, this Saturday each division will be on the track for 30 minutes of carnage. The Outlaw Figure 8 Division featuring the fastest cars of the Figure 8 divisions will be hand with 2016 Champion Seth Funden leading the way. Funden is coming off a strong 2016 year, but came up just short in the 90 Minutes of Fear last year when Nick Gunderson took the win. Another driver to keep your eye on will be former two-time 90 Minutes of Fear winner John Carlson. The first main event winner of the year, Chris Curtis, will look to continue his success into the 2017 season as well. One of the most dominant drivers over the past few years in Figure 8 racing has been Quenton Borreson in the Monroe Grocery Outlet Super Stock Division. Borreson is coming off a big year in 2016 where he won the Championship and 90 Minutes of Fear for the Super Stock Division. One of the most consistent drivers so far in 2017 has beenveteran Tony Hill claiming spots on the podium in each of the first two races. Other drivers to watch will be last year’s runner-up Eric Allison, veteran driver Doug Delfel, and rookie Matt Sommerville. The smallest cars competing in the 90 Minutes of Fear will be the Buzz Inn Steakhouse Stinger 8 Division. The high speed 4 cylinder cars will feature many of the up and coming drivers at Evergreen Speedway. Drivers to keep your eye on will be last year’s winner Lance Ograin, multi-class driver Zach Bristol, and Cody Hoopes.
The Les Schwab Street Stocks will be back in action as Roger Drake will look to continue his winning ways; and, Steve Woods will be looking to bounce back from his opening night win. Also on hand for the nights festivities, will be the WESCO Sprint Carsmaking their first trip to track in 2017.
