Northwest Focus Midget Series Elma Bound
By Ben Deatherage
Elma, Washington- After splitting last weekend at Deming and Skagit Speedways the Northwest Focus Midget Series makes the trip across Puget Sound to Grays Harbor Raceway. It is the fifth time the series has made a visit to the Elma, Washington facility in 2017. It will be the sixth round of the Summer Challenge that boasts a $10,000.00 point fund at the end of the season.

"The Summer Challenge points battle is heating up and getting very exciting after five races," commented Carla Stewart, co-owner of the Northwest Focus Midget Series, "going into our sixth out of race we have a tie between Alger's Ryan Cully and Nick Evan of Granite Falls, with Chance Crum, Tristin Thomas, Garrett Thomas, Michael Vollbrecht, Jonathan Joregenson, Nate Vaughn, Sawyer Lind and Hannah Lindquist as the top ten. Eric Turner, Shane Smith and Otto Jorgenson are very close to those top ten in points."

Tristin Thomas has three Summer Challenge wins while Ross Rankine and Nate Vaughn have one win each. Overall this season Tristin Thomas has amassed an incredible six trips to victory lane including last weekend. Both Chance Crum and Nick Evans are three-time winners in the current campaign. Ross Rankine has two triumphs with Colton Heath and Nate Vaughn victorious just once this year.

Overall the Northwest Focus Midget Series has held seventeen races at the 3/8-mile speed factory. Seven different drivers have graced victory lane including Tristin Thomas who leads that table with five wins. Nick Evans is second on the list, with three, trailed by Dougie James, Chance Crum, and Garrett Thomas, as they have two each, while single race victory in Elma include Doug Anderson, Eric Turner, and Michael Vollbrecht. Crum swept the Fred Brownfield Memorial weekend in late June/early July.
