Cronk Wins Street Stock Battle At The Beach
At Coos Bay Speedway

Coos Bay, Oregon...August 26...David Cronk won the 50 lap Street Stock Battle At The Beach Saturday night at Coos Bay Speedway. This was the seventh round of the Road To The Iron Giant Series, which has eight races at eight different tracks, and a good group of competitors came in from the Willamette and Cottage Grove tracks. Cronk had it dialed in as he won the 50 lap race by almost a half lap. Series organizer Chris Sine grabbed a second place finish not too far ahead of Cottage Grove point leader Evan Britton. Reigning Coos Bay champion Daniel Land battled Erik Jarnport for a fourth place finish while local racer Jeff Thurman was the final lead lap finisher in sixth. R.C. Levin, Sean Cronk, Ken Fox and Hunter Bloom competed the Top 10 finishing order. Ten lap heat wins went to Ron Brewster, Kyle Yaeck and D. Cronk, but Brewster and Yaeck were out of the Main Event early.

Mike George scored the 25 lap Main Event victory in the NASCAR Super Late Model division. This was his ninth feature win of the season. Championship rival Toby McIntyre beat George by a straightaway to win the ten lap heat race, but George scored the feature win by about a half straightaway over McIntyre. Rookie Brody Montgomery, Thor Kristenson and Chris Ray rounded out the Top 5.

Dr. Scott Lenz made a surprise visit to Coos Bay and won the 20 lap Sportsman Late Model Main Event. Lenz currently leads the points at Southern Oregon Speedway and with the Outlaw Pro Stock Association. Lenz kicked things off by winning the ten lap heat race by a straightaway ahead of championship hopeful Wayne Butler. In the Main Event, Lenz continued his rapid pace in beating point leader Brody Montgomery by a straightaway. Butler was a solid third with Dyllan Siewell the final lead lap finisher ahead of Jeff Krossman, Stacy Robinson and Charlie Withers.

John Henry won the 20 lap Mini Outlaws Main Event. This was his second win of the season. Henry just managed to beat point leader Sam Talon back to the line for the victory as Alyssa Johnson rounded out a short field of cars. Talon won the ten lap heat race ahead of Henry.

Braden Fugate won the 25 lap Hornets Main Event. This was his second win of the season and it came not too far ahead of the season best second place finish for Jeremy Beard. Beard won a good battle with reigning champion Jeremiah Reiber for the runnerup finish. Hannah Robison enjoyed a good battle with point leader Ryan Siewell before beating him back to the line for fourth. Sam Taylor and April Warmack were the final lead lap finishers as Tyler McIntyre, Eric Kolari and Patrick Nagel rounded out the Top 10. Fugate and Siewell were ten lap heat race winners.

Next Saturday night is the Wingless Sprint Car Iron Man Race, and there will also be a Fireworks Show. Also on the NASCAR Whelen All American Series card will be the Sportsman Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Outlaws, Hornets and West Coast Vintage Sprints.
