Second Straight Win for Peterson

5/10/19

Everson, WA - For the second week in a row, Jared Peterson stood triumphant after a barnburner of a main event in the Speedmart 600 Open division at Deming Speedway on Judd & Black Appliance & Pacific Coast Auto Center night. Brock Lemley, Blaine Granberg and Levi Hillier were the other feature winners.

It almost looked like a caution flag would cost Peterson again, as Jared had made bold moves through slower traffic to take the lead on lap 19 before a caution struck and reverted the field t the previous lap where Kyle Johnson was ahead. When the race resumed, Peterson altered his line to run the bottom of turn three and four and the top of turn one and two, which allowed Jared to pull even with Johnson on lap 21 and take the lead on lap 22. Once he had the advantage, Peterson added a little pad to take his second win in a row in the division ahead of Johnson and Derek Torkelson. Joe Constance, Torkelson, Ryan Holz and Peterson won the heats.

You could almost see Brock Lemley’s smile inside his helmet as he led all 25 laps of the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 wingless main event. Lemley set a torrid pace early and built a nearly three second advantage before entering traffic. While in traffic, Lemley made bold moves but Derek Holmwood and Nate Vaughn were both able to close. Once free of the slower cars, Lemley stretched out his lead again to over two seconds before collecting his first Deming Speedway win in a number of seasons, with Holmwood and Vaughn taking second and third. Lemley, Holmwood and Seth Hespe were the heat race winners.

A caution plagued main event for the Mytrafficman.NET 600 restricted class was shortened to just eight laps were completed in 30 minutes. Blaine Granberg led all of those laps to take his third win of the season, followed by Jordi Meese and Brody Ferguson. Heat wins went to Malachi Gemmer, Dylan Resch, Ferguson and Mitchell Helsel.

Make it three in a row for Levi Hillier in the Clean Crawl Junior Sprints. With slower traffic looming, Hillier made an aggressive move to the inside of race leader Levi Kuntz to take the lead on lap six and was not challenged thereafter in winning his third straight main. Kuntz and Peyton Drake rounded out the podium. Hillier and Kane Van Sickle won the heats.
